Usui Reiki Certification

Reiki is often translated as “Universal Life Force Energy”—a way of naming the subtle, animating energy that moves through all of life.

This energy is not something we create or control, but something we learn to sense, receive, and work with—gently, steadily, and in relationship.

In practice, Reiki offers a quiet and supportive way of working with the body and nervous system—inviting relaxation, easing tension, and creating space for healing to unfold over time.

While Reiki has its roots in Japan through the teachings of Mikao Usui, it has since been shared and practiced across cultures and contexts, carried forward through both formal training and lived experience.

Reiki is accessible, not because it is simplistic, but because it meets us where we are. It does not require force or effort—only a willingness to be present and to listen.

Many come to Reiki for personal healing, and over time, feel called to share this work with others in a more intentional and professional way.

Some research has explored Reiki’s role in supporting relaxation and stress reduction, though its impact is most often experienced directly through practice.

Amy's Reiki Journey

Reiki Universal Life Force Energy with Amy Mak

When I began teaching Reiki over 22 years ago, it was still unfamiliar to many. I remember someone asking, “Doesn’t it hurt?”—they were thinking of Rolfing.

Since then, Reiki has become more widely recognized, not only as a standalone practice, but as something that naturally integrates into bodywork, counseling, and other healing modalities. Many people now encounter Reiki through experience—either directly or through someone they trust.

Reiki is a subtle and intelligent energy—gentle, yet powerful. It supports the body in softening, the nervous system in settling, and the system as a whole in returning to balance.

Over time, both in my personal practice and in working with clients and students, I’ve come to trust the way Reiki meets each person exactly where they are—without force, without urgency, and without the need to impose meaning or direction.

My approach to teaching Reiki is grounded in this same understanding. Rather than focusing on performance or outcome, we learn how to be present, to listen, and to work in relationship with the energy itself.

In this way, Reiki becomes not just something you do, but something you come into relationship with—steadily, and over time.

For those who feel the quiet pull to go further, the Reiki certification offers a way to deepen your relationship with the practice—through structure, support, and real-time experience.

This training is not about learning a technique to apply, but about developing a grounded and reliable relationship with Reiki—one that unfolds through practice, presence, and experience.

The Reiki certification is offered as a progressive, practice-based pathway. Each level builds on the one before it—allowing your relationship with Reiki to deepen through experience, integration, and time.

Reiki Certification Pathway

Reiki Levels 1–3 are offered as a progressive, practice-based pathway.

Reiki training is offered in private  settings (1:1 or 2–4 students)—either in person in Lafayette, CO, or remotely via Zoom—allowing for direct guidance, real-time practice, and integration.

This allows for a more focused, supported, and experiential approach—where practice, guidance, and integration can unfold in real time.

Training is scheduled based on interest and availability, allowing for a more intentional and supported learning environment.
